Description of tea leaf extract

Tea leaf extract is derived from minimally processed green tea buds and leaves. Research shows that green teas have the highest concentration of antioxidant properties (via their polyphenol and flavonoid content) of all teas. Although they carry a similar name, this ingredient is not related with tea tree leaf which comes from a totally different plant.

Green tea leaves contain high amounts of the polyphenol epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG), which is the main antioxidant in tea. The conclusion is that green tea has excellent antioxidant activity, which is something to look for in skin care products. It is also said to have anti-aging, anti-cellulite, photoprotective and sebum-regulating effects. It is approved for organic.

The tea leaf extract we use in our products comes from the Pu'er region in Yunnan. This name resonates particularly with tea lovers, since Pu'er tea (also spelled Puer, Pu-erh or Pu Erh) is consumed worldwide and renowned for its many virtues. Its richness in probiotics and its diverse properties make it an important element of traditional Chinese pharmacopoeia.
