Description of C18-21 Alkane
This ingredient is a mixture of alkanes. The numbers after "C" refer to the range of alkyl (carbon) chain lengths. C18-21 alkane is therefore a mixture with 18 to 21 carbons in the alkyl chain.
It is an easily biodegradable alkane of synthetic origin. It is a natural substitute for silicones with low gloss, moderate drying time and mild residue. It has excellent compatibility with esters, vegetable and mineral oils. It has a soft texture, finish and matte veil. It is an inert and non-polar oil. It can be easily formulated and stabilized under very extreme conditions (pH, oxidizing/reducing environments).
